About this position

Texas A&M University is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry at College Station, Texas, United States. The newly established Huang Research Group is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to study how post-translational modifications regulate proteins involved in cell-cell adhesion.

The project combines top-down proteomics, molecular engineering, and biochemical and cell-based approaches to connect protein modification states with molecular interactions and cellular function. The role also involves advanced protein mass spectrometry using state-of-the-art Fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS) instrumentation, including a Thermo Scientific Vanquish Neo LC system coupled to a Tribrid Orbitrap mass spectrometer.

Typical responsibilities include optimizing sample preparation and MS methods for intact proteins and proteoforms, designing protein expression constructs, maintaining bacterial and mammalian cell culture systems, generating stable mammalian cell lines, purifying and characterizing proteins, analyzing data, mentoring students, and presenting results at meetings and conferences.

Applicants should hold an appropriate PhD in a related field. Preferred backgrounds include chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, or cell biology, with first-author publication experience. Strong experience with proteomics/metabolomics, Orbitrap FTMS, top-down proteomics, protein chromatography, biochemical assays, and data analysis in R or Python will be advantageous.

Funding is salary-based and commensurate with experience. The posting notes that employment may depend on grant or contract funding availability. Benefits include insurance, paid leave, retirement enrollment, wellness programs, professional development support, and tuition assistance.

To apply, use the official Texas A&M Workday application link and submit the online application. A cover letter and resume/CV are strongly recommended. The post does not list a fixed deadline.
