About this position

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Dexterous Robotic Manipulation at the University of Notre Dame

A postdoctoral position is available in the new Physical AI and Robotics (PAIR) initiative at the University of Notre Dame. The project focuses on dexterous robotic manipulation and sits at the intersection of robotics, physical AI, mechanical engineering, computer science, and electrical engineering. The successful candidate will work directly with Prof. Nikolaus Correll in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment with access to collaborations across robotics and AI, as well as state-of-the-art computational resources and manufacturing equipment.

The role is especially relevant for researchers with experience in forceful manipulation and control, tactile sensing, perception, and the design and construction of custom robotic hardware. The postdoc is expected to contribute to high-impact robotics research and to participate actively in the broader robotics community. Strong communication skills and evidence of first-author publications in leading venues such as ICRA, IROS, RSS, or CoRL are highlighted as desirable.

Eligibility requires a doctoral degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The position offers a competitive salary and a full benefits package including health insurance and retirement options.

Application materials include a cover letter, CV, one peer-reviewed publication most relevant to the position, and the names and email addresses of three professional references. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.

Institution: University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana, USA.
