About this position
King’s College London is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in digital twin modelling for thrombosis risk prediction within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences and the Research Department of Digital Twins in Healthcare.
The project is EPSRC-funded and focuses on developing a probabilistic digital twin framework for efficient, dynamic prediction of thrombogenesis risks in cardiovascular disease. The research combines biomedical engineering, computer science, medical science, mathematics, and physics, with emphasis on computational modelling, artificial intelligence, deep learning, Bayesian inference, and medical imaging.
The successful candidate will work on scalable cardiovascular digital twins for personalised care, integrating multi-modal patient data such as EHRs, imaging, and lab tests with population-level prior information. Main tasks include modelling blood coagulation mechanisms in patients with atrial fibrillation and coronary heart disease, benchmarking probabilistic kernel-based and deep-learning surrogates, and integrating the digital twin with Bayesian frameworks to support precision anticoagulation therapy.
This is a full-time post (35 hours/week) on a fixed-term contract until 18 October 2030. Salary is £45,031–£47,379 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in biomedical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, computational science, physics, or a related discipline; strong programming in Python and/or C++; experience with at least two of ANSYS-based biophysical modelling, Gaussian-process emulators, deep learning, or physics-informed models; and experience with medical imaging data processing. Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting PhD award may also be considered.
How to apply: Submit a CV and supporting statement addressing the essential criteria. Check the job description for full assessment details and apply via the King’s College London jobs page before the closing date.
Deadline: 1 November 2026.
