About this position
The University of Strathclyde’s Department of Government and Public Policy is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the ESRC Responsive Mode project Disability and Political Parties (DISPOP).
The project is led by Professor Elizabeth Evans (University of Southampton) and Professor Stefanie Reher (University of Strathclyde). It examines how disabled people experience political parties, what barriers they face, how parties address disability, accessibility, and inclusion, and how politics can be made more accessible through co-produced recommendations with Disabled People’s Organisations.
The postholder will work across four cases: Denmark, Germany, Spain, and the UK. The role includes conceptual development, survey design, survey data analysis, survey experiments, interviews, ethnographic methods, data collection, analysis, writing, conference presentations, and co-authoring publications.
This is a fixed-term 24-month salaried post with a salary of £37,694 - £46,049 FTE. The postholder will work under the supervision of Professor Stefanie Reher and in close collaboration with Professor Elizabeth Evans and a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Southampton.
Applicants should be emerging scholars with strong research skills. Familiarity with the political party system in Denmark or Spain is a strong advantage, along with good writing and conversation skills in Danish or Spanish. The closing date is 2026-09-14, and initial interviews are scheduled for late September or early October.
Apply through the University of Strathclyde vacancies portal. Informal enquiries can be sent to [email protected].
