About this position
Texas A&M AgriLife Research is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in College Station, Texas, United States, within the Department of Entomology. This is an applied research role focused on entomology, arthropod handling, pesticide formulation, larvicidal efficacy, toxicology, and data-driven analysis for screwworm-related control strategies.
The project involves collaboration with Texas A&M and Texas Tech to develop field-ready treatments for screwworm-caused myiasis in multiple formats, including a wound-conforming foam, a bio-adhesive spray, and an immersion wash. The postdoc will lead research on larvicidal performance against secondary screwworms and proxy species, quantify LC90/LC99 and time-to-kill metrics, and evaluate dose-sparing effects when botanicals are combined with synthetic active ingredients. The work also includes veterinary safety and residue testing in dairy and beef cattle.
Eligibility: a PhD in entomology, chemistry, animal science, toxicology, or a closely related field is required. Strong candidates will have experience with arthropod rearing, livestock handling, pesticide formulation, live-animal research, molecular assays, statistical analysis, data management, and publication writing. The role requires independent research leadership, strong communication, collaboration across disciplines, and willingness to work with live arthropods, pesticides, and biosafety risk group 2 agents.
Funding: the position is supported by a USDA cooperative agreement for 2 years, with salary commensurate with qualifications. Additional funding may be pursued depending on the postdoc’s grant procurement ability. Benefits include insurance coverage, paid leave, and retirement enrollment.
How to apply: submit the online application through the Workday posting. Upload a resume/CV or complete all application fields, and include references with email addresses and daytime phone numbers. Incomplete applications may be rejected.
