About this position
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Entomology at the Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
This postdoctoral position is centered on entomology, integrated pest management (IPM), applied ecology, and arthropod pest biology and management. The successful candidate will lead multiple research projects involving entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) and/or entomopathogenic fungi (EPF), including work targeting corn rootworm in corn and red sunflower seed weevil and head moth in sunflower. The broader lab program also covers pest management in major crops such as sugar beets, dry beans, winter wheat, sunflower, corn, and alfalfa.
The role includes grant proposal preparation, project reporting, conference presentations, manuscript drafting and publishing, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Extension programming and material development may also be available for candidates interested in outreach.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Entomology, Microbiology, Ecology, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in IPM or applied ecology research and experience with EPN/EPF. Strong written and oral communication skills are required, along with a valid driver’s license and ability to meet university driving criteria. Preferred experience includes publications, presentations, grantsmanship, student mentoring, row-crop research, and extension/outreach.
Funding: this is a 12-month postdoctoral appointment funded by a grant or other temporary funding, with possible extension depending on performance and funding availability.
