What's required

Appropriate PhD in the general area of biology. Strong candidates should have expertise in Drosophila genetics and/or genomics and evolutionary biology, evidenced by relevant publications or prepared manuscripts. Experience mentoring undergraduate students in laboratory research is preferred. Additional preferred experience includes insect reproductive biology, sexual selection theory, confocal and light microscopy, phenotypic quantification of reproductive traits, Drosophila transgenesis, cloning, microdissection of insect female reproductive organs, statistical analyses, single-cell RNA sequencing and transcriptome analysis, genetic mapping methods such as QTL, GWAS, or PhyloG2P, culturing non-melanogaster Drosophilid species, and laboratory administration tasks such as purchasing, equipment maintenance, lab safety assessment, and Drosophila culture maintenance. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail are required.
