About this position

University of Cambridge is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Gas-Phase Photocatalysis within the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, supervised by Prof Erwin Reisner.

The project sits in the Reisner Laboratory and focuses on carbon capture, CO2 conversion, gas-phase reactions, solar-driven technologies, direct air capture, reactor design, and flow systems. The successful candidate will help develop an integrated system for capturing atmospheric CO2 and converting it into green fuels and valuable chemicals, with attention to sunlight concentration, outdoor testing, and broad-spectrum light utilisation.

This is a fixed-term postdoctoral role funded for 2 years in the first instance, supported by UK Research and Innovation through an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council grant. The post offers a salary in the range stated in the advert and is expected to lead to publications and novel IP.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have or be about to obtain a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline. A strong publication record and experience in carbon capture, CO2 conversion, gas-phase chemistry, solar technologies, reactor design, or flow systems are desirable.

To apply, use the University of Cambridge online recruitment system, upload a CV, covering letter, and publications list, and quote reference MA50434. The closing date is 30 August 2026.
