About this position

Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Genetics for an on-campus/onsite position at the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.

The postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary research program led by Dr. Tychele Turner focused on the genomic and molecular mechanisms underlying 9p-related syndromes. The role combines human genomics, rare disease research, functional biology, and molecular biology, with responsibilities including generation, analysis, and interpretation of genomic and multi-omic datasets; integration of genomic findings with clinical phenotypes; and functional studies to evaluate genes and variants associated with chromosome 9p disorders.

Research activities include assisting with grant preparation and reporting, planning experiments with the PI and multidisciplinary team, designing and optimizing molecular biology and functional genomics experiments, analyzing sequencing and variant data, maintaining accurate records, preparing reports and manuscripts, and mentoring trainees as appropriate. The position offers advanced training at the interface of genetics, bioinformatic analysis, genome sequencing, variant interpretation, and disease modeling.

Required qualification: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal/doctoral degree. Preferred background: Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Human Genetics, or a closely related field by the start date. Helpful experience includes genomic datasets, mammalian cell culture, PCR/qPCR, cloning, CRISPR/Cas9, Hi-C, CNVs, structural variants, iPSCs, organoids, animal models, and peer-reviewed publications.

Funding: The role supports a funded research program; base pay is commensurate with experience. No specific stipend amount is listed.
