About this position
Postdoctoral Research Associate in GeoAI and Remote Sensing for Invasive Species Ecology at the University of Florida (Main Campus, Gainesville, Florida).
This postdoctoral opportunity is based in the Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) Lab led by Dr. Di Yang and is part of a new multi-institutional project on the invasive grass Ventenata dubia (VEDU). The successful candidate will work at the intersection of remote sensing, GeoAI, machine learning, deep learning, spectral phenotyping, spectranomics, and invasion ecology. Research will include multi-scale sensing using ground spectrometers, UAVs, lidar, and satellite imagery (Planet, Sentinel, Landsat), plus integration with ecological field data to model invasion resistance, phenotypic plasticity, and invasion dynamics.
Eligibility highlights: Ph.D. by the start date in Remote Sensing, Geography, Biology, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a closely related field; strong Python and Google Earth Engine skills; experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow; first-author peer-reviewed publications; excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred experience includes plant ecology, invasion science, agronomy, reflectance spectroscopy, chemometrics, UAV campaigns, and vegetation surveys.
