About this position
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in HPC Confidential Computing and Secure Multi-tenancy within the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS), Technology Integration group.
The role focuses on research and development for secure computing enclaves on large-scale HPC and supercomputing resources, including system software architectures, secure virtualization, identity and key management, memory encryption, confidential computing, trusted execution environments, and secure platform management.
Research interests include integration of confidential computing on CPU- and GPU-based HPC systems, use of DPU/IPU SmartNICs for network security isolation, platform root-of-trust, and secure partitioning. The position also involves encrypted communication across RDMA networks, attestation, and integration with HPC resource management systems.
This is a postdoctoral opening, not a scholarship. The appointment is up to 24 months with possible extension, depending on performance and funding availability. ORNL notes competitive pay and benefits, plus relocation assistance and standard employee benefits.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in computer science, engineering, or a relevant area; have a research track record in HPC research within the past five years; and must have completed all degree requirements before starting. The lab also requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
To apply, use the ORNL online application portal. If you need help with the application or an accommodation, contact [email protected]. The posting states the position remains open for at least five days and then closes when a qualified candidate is identified and/or hired.
