About this position

University of Cambridge / CRUK Cambridge Institute is recruiting a Research Associate (postdoctoral role) in the Wang Group.

The project sits at the intersection of imaging methods, sequencing methods, epigenomics, and cancer biology. The group develops and applies cutting-edge imaging and sequencing approaches to connect high-resolution microscopy with genome-wide discovery, with a particular focus on how gene regulation is reorganised in cancer cells. A major theme is extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) as a driver of oncogene amplification, intratumour heterogeneity, and therapy resistance.

The role is flexible and may lean toward advanced microscopy, sequencing-based epigenomics, or the computational integration of both, depending on the successful candidate’s strengths. Work will involve developing, validating, and benchmarking new methods; applying them to cancer models; building analysis pipelines for large datasets; and contributing to interpretation, manuscript writing, and lab activities.

Research will use cell-line, organoid, and patient-derived models, and may include primary clinical specimens where appropriate. The post is fixed-term for 1 year in the first instance and offers a salary of £37,694–£46,049.

Applicants should be experienced, organised, and collaborative, with relevant expertise in microscopy, epigenomic sequencing, or computational analysis. Applications are submitted online via the Cambridge recruitment system. Quote reference SW50974 and apply before 1 October 2026.
