About this position
Postdoctoral Research Associate at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
This postdoctoral opening is in the Movement Neuroscience Lab and focuses on neuromodulation, pain pathways, motor control, and biomechanics in orthopedic conditions. The lab studies arthrogenic muscle inhibition and the relationship between pain and muscle weakness as co-occurring features of nervous system pathways, with research involving knee osteoarthritis, ACL injury and reconstruction, patellofemoral pain, and knee replacement.
The successful candidate will lead day-to-day scientific and operational work on two ongoing clinical trials, including recruitment, screening, enrollment, retention, protocol fidelity, scheduling, and coordination with clinical collaborators. The role also involves collecting and analyzing neurophysiologic and biomechanical data such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, EMG, quantitative sensory testing, and isokinetic dynamometry, as well as maintaining IRB/regulatory compliance and REDCap databases.
Applicants should have a PhD in rehabilitation science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, kinesiology, human movement science, or a closely related field. Prior experience with human participants, clinical trial methodology, human subjects research regulation, and first-author peer-reviewed publication is expected. Preferred experience includes clinical licensure/training, non-invasive brain stimulation, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, clinical trial coordination, pain neuroscience, and programming/analysis in REDCap, R, MATLAB, or Python.
The position is research-focused and includes support to develop additional projects and pursue independent funding within the lab’s scope. Northeastern lists a salary range of $60,315 to $85,192.50 and a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
