About this position
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Synthesis for the Lithium-Air Battery at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
This postdoctoral opening is part of a collaborative project focused on the lithium-air battery, a next-generation energy storage technology with the potential for much higher energy density than current lithium-ion cells. The successful candidate will carry out world-leading research on the synthesis and degradation routes of organic molecules relevant to lithium-air batteries, working in recently refurbished state-of-the-art laboratories and collaborating with scientists and engineers across the project.
The role is especially suited to an outstanding synthetic organic chemist with experience in multi-step synthesis, strong mechanistic understanding of organic reactivity, and skills in the analysis and characterisation of organic molecules. The post also involves presenting results to stakeholders and preparing manuscripts for publication.
Eligibility highlights: a relevant PhD/DPhil (or near completion), excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating research environment.
Funding: the project is funded by the Ellison Institute of Technology. The post is full-time (37.5 hours/week) and fixed-term until 31 January 2028; no salary amount is stated in the post.
Application deadline: 11 September 2026 at 12:00 midday BST. Applicants must submit a CV and a supporting statement that addresses each essential and desirable criterion in the job description. CVs alone will not be considered.
