About this position

We’re recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in proteomics and metabolomics for an interdisciplinary project on primary open angle glaucoma at the University of Liverpool (UK).

The project, Integrated Proteomic and Metabolomic Analysis of Aqueous Humour in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma, is funded by Glaucoma UK and will use samples from the Liverpool Research Eye Biobank to investigate molecular signatures associated with glaucoma.

The successful candidate will work across ophthalmology, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, and computational biology, with tasks including low-volume biological sample preparation, high-resolution LC–MS/MS proteomics, targeted LC–MS metabolomics, quantitative analysis, statistics, and integration of proteomic, metabolomic, and clinical data.

Applicants should have a PhD or be nearing completion in proteomics, metabolomics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics/computational biology, or a related mass-spectrometry-based field. Strong quantitative and analytical skills are important; prior glaucoma or ophthalmic research experience is not required.

This is a full-time, 12-month postdoctoral role with an anticipated start in October 2026. The closing date is 4 September 2026.
