About this position
Postdoctoral Research Associate opening in Semiconductor Lasers and Optical Amplifiers at the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Texas at Arlington (Arlington, Texas, on-site).
The Emerging Photonics Integration (EPI) Lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to design, fabricate, and characterize semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers. The role is centered on photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductor device fabrication, nanofabrication, and cleanroom-based research, with additional interest in compound semiconductors, III-V epitaxial materials/growth, silicon photonics, and heterogeneous integration platforms.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, Optics and Photonics, or a closely related field. The post emphasizes 3+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience in fabrication and characterization of semiconductor lasers and/or SOAs, plus experience in device design and simulation. Strong publication, patent, or project evidence is expected. Preferred experience includes photonic device testing and validation and compound semiconductor growth.
Funding and appointment: competitive salary and benefits are offered, with compensation negotiable based on experience. The appointment is renewable and includes career support and job referrals after completion.
How to apply: email the PI with a CV, official transcript, 2–3 representative publications, and a brief research statement or slides deck. The lab website is provided for more information.
Keywords: semiconductor lasers, optical amplifiers, photonics, optoelectronics, compound semiconductors, cleanroom fabrication, nanofabrication, silicon photonics, heterogeneous integration.
