About this position

Imperial College London is advertising a Research Associate position in the Department of Brain Sciences within the UK Dementia Research Institute at Hammersmith Campus, London, UK.

The role is centered on systems neuroscience, neuroengineering, in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, synaptic proteomics, and rodent surgery. Two project directions are described: (1) investigating how tau and alpha-synuclein pathology drive synaptic vulnerability and circuit dysfunction in vivo, and (2) developing real-time volumetric voltage imaging and closed-loop Alzheimer’s disease interventions using Temporal Interference brain stimulation.

The post is part of a major research programme supported by awards from the Michael Uren Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with collaborators in pathology, imaging technologies, bioengineering, computing, and signal processing, and will also help supervise PhD and Master’s students and contribute to high-impact manuscripts.

Applicants should hold, or be near completion of, a PhD in Systems Neuroscience, Neuroengineering, or a related quantitative biological field. Strong practical experience with in vivo optical imaging, electrophysiology, synaptic proteomics, and rodent surgical techniques is required, and coding/large-scale neural data analysis is highly desirable. A publication record and ability to work in a collaborative multi-site team are also emphasized.

This is a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral role for an initial period of 2 years, with salary £50,733 - £59,484 per annum. The advert notes that the post is a PhD-level role and that candidates not yet officially awarded may be appointed as a Research Assistant.
