About this position

The Laboratory of Dr. Dan Fabris in the Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut (Storrs, Connecticut, United States) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate / Research Associate for projects in epitranscriptomics and RNA post-transcriptional modifications (rPTMs).

The research investigates the functional roles of RNA modifications in the cellular response to viral infections and other stresses, including studies in human cell cultures infected with HIV-1 and hepatitis C. The role includes experimental work in RNA biochemistry, molecular biology, virology, cell biology, gene silencing, biochemical/spectroscopic/electrophoretic methods, RNA purification, and advanced mass spectrometric analysis. The position also involves training and leading undergraduate and graduate research assistants.

Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field for the postdoctoral role, or the equivalent qualifications/experience for the Research Associate 1 classification. Experience in virology, cell biology, gene silencing, RNA biochemistry, molecular biology, and relevant bioassays is required; RNA-seq and NGS experience is preferred. No direct mass spectrometry experience is required, as training will be provided.

The appointment starts around November 2026 and is initially for one year, with possible renewal for a second year depending on performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The application deadline is 2026-10-26.

Apply online via the University of Connecticut Faculty and Staff Positions portal (Search #499840) and submit a resume, cover letter, and three professional references.
