What's required
PhD completed within the last 5 years in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, or a related field. Applicants should have experience in data engineering, AI/ML systems development, or applied research with large-scale biological or clinical datasets; strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL; hands-on experience with LLMs, vector databases such as Pinecone, and NLP tools; familiarity with clinical trial data structures, academic publication indexing, and biological ontologies; experience operating data pipelines in AWS using Docker; and excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills. Eligibility for Mitacs funding is required, including Canadian citizen, permanent resident, international student with valid student visa, or international postdoctoral researcher with valid work permit, age 18+, PhD graduation less than five years before project start, and no prior employment at the partner organization.
