About this position
University of British Columbia is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the MOSAIC study in cardiovascular imaging, precision health, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The role is based in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, working with Dr. Teresa Tsang and collaborators on a multi-site provincial initiative that integrates genomic and multi-omic data, echocardiographic imaging, and clinical information to predict cardiovascular disease risk and progression.
The fellow will develop AI models linking echo findings with genetic data, perform ML analyses on imaging datasets, standardize protocols, validate outputs, and contribute to translational tools for equitable cardiovascular care. The position also includes research leadership, manuscript and grant support, mentorship of students and research assistants, and collaboration across academic, clinical, industry, and community partners.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in AI, machine learning, cardiovascular medicine, genomics, or a related field obtained within the last 5 years; experience with biological, imaging, or clinical data; Python or R skills; and strong interdisciplinary communication and analytical abilities. What's required
PhD in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cardiovascular medicine, genomics, or a related discipline obtained within the last 5 years by the appointment start date. Demonstrated expertise in current machine learning techniques applied to biological, imaging, or clinical data. Proficiency in ML frameworks such as LLavaMed, EchoPrime, and DNABERT is an asset, along with programming in Python or R. Experience with medical imaging or genomic datasets is an asset.
