About this position

Postdoctoral Research Fellow opening at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States, focused on diffuse midline glioma (DMG), tumor microenvironment, neurodevelopment, and translational cancer research.

The project investigates how developmental programs and the tumor microenvironment influence DMG biology and response to therapy. The fellow will work under Dr. Koschmann in the Department of Pediatrics, leading advanced orthotopic mouse modeling, including brainstem implantation and intra-uterine electroporation (IUE)-based systems, together with mechanistic cell-based studies and rigorous in vivo therapeutic testing.

Research activities include designing and analyzing treatment studies for novel targeted therapies and epigenetic therapies, using survival, imaging, molecular, and cellular endpoints. The role also includes functional studies of tumor cell state, lineage programs, and tumor-microenvironment interactions through assays such as immunocytochemistry (ICC), stimulation and perturbation experiments, viability and proliferation assays, imaging-based analyses, and other plate-based functional approaches.

Required background: a PhD in Cancer Biology, Neuroscience, Epigenetics, or a related field; strong molecular and cellular biology skills; experience with cell culture, cloning, transfection/transduction, and RNA/DNA/protein analyses; and demonstrated interest in in vivo cancer experimentation. Preferred experience includes murine neurological disease models, orthotopic CNS/brainstem tumor models, in vivo drug studies, small animal surgery, imaging, histopathology, and multi-omic analysis such as scRNAseq, IF, and spatial methods.

This is a full-time regular research fellow position in a hybrid work mode. The posting states that openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days and may be removed after the minimum posting period; the posting window shown is 2026-10-12 to 2026-12-11.
