About this position

Postdoctoral Research Fellow opportunity at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Psychiatry, working in the Frangou Laboratory with Prof. Sophia Frangou at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (Vancouver Campus, Canada).

The project sits at the intersection of neuroimaging, genomics, epigenetics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, and computational biology. The fellow will study how genomic and epigenomic variation contributes to differences in human brain structure and function across development, ageing, and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Responsibilities include analyzing multimodal MRI data (structural, diffusion, and/or functional), integrating imaging with genomic and epigenomic measures, applying rigorous statistical and multivariate methods, preparing manuscripts and presentations, and contributing to collaborative publications and grant development. There are also opportunities to develop independent research directions within the broader programme.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree by the time of appointment in a relevant field such as neuroscience, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, psychology, or epidemiology. Strong programming and quantitative skills in R, Python, or similar tools are required, along with a strong publication record and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience with epigenomic data, machine learning, longitudinal or population cohorts, HPC, and reproducible workflows is desirable.

The position is initially for two years, with possible extension depending on performance and funding. Salary is expected to be CAD $70,000–$75,000 per year at 1.0 FTE.

How to apply: Email your application directly to [email protected] with a CV, personal statement, and contact details for three referees. The deadline is 2026-09-29.
