About this position
The National University of Singapore, School of Computing and Department of Physics, is inviting applications for two postdoctoral research fellow positions in Quantum and AI, starting in 2027.
The positions are based in Singapore and will work closely with Assistant Professor Yuxuan Zhang and the wider Singapore quantum AI ecosystem. The research sits at the interface of quantum information, quantum many-body physics, and machine learning, with a focus on building quantum computations that are both verifiable and practically useful.
Research directions include: quantum advantage and its classical boundary; peaked circuits and efficiently verifiable advantage; tensor-network and Pauli-path methods; quantum simulation of many-body and open systems; non-Hermitian dynamics; mixed-state phases of matter; thermal state preparation; and machine learning for quantum computing, including compiling many-body dynamics into short circuits, neural quantum states, and learning noise and control from device data.
Both theory-leaning, numerics-leaning, and hardware-facing projects are available. Postdocs may also collaborate with industry partners such as Quantinuum, Google, and IBM, and participate in an international collaboration spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.
Funding: both positions are fully funded, with an initial two-year appointment and possible renewal. A competitive salary is offered.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field (completed or near completion), have strong research experience in quantum information/computation, quantum many-body physics, tensor-network or other numerical methods, or machine learning, and have a publication record appropriate to career stage.
Deadline: 2026-11-16.
How to apply: submit the application online via AcademicJobsOnline. Required materials are a cover letter, CV, research statement, and three reference letters submitted online by referees.
