About this position
Two postdoctoral positions are available in quantum computing and artificial intelligence with Assistant Professor Yuxuan Zhang at the National University of Singapore.
The group is hosted by the School of Computing with a joint appointment in the Department of Physics. Research sits at the interface of quantum information, quantum many-body physics, and machine learning, with a focus on building quantum computations that are both verifiable and practically useful.
Example directions include quantum advantage and its classical boundary, quantum simulation of many-body and open systems, and machine learning for quantum computing such as compiling many-body dynamics into short circuits, neural quantum states, and learning noise/control from device data.
The positions are open to theory-leaning, numerics-leaning, and hardware-facing candidates. Postdocs may develop independent projects, co-supervise PhD and undergraduate students, and collaborate with industry partners including Quantinuum, Google, and IBM.
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field, with strong research experience in quantum information and computation, quantum many-body physics, tensor-network or other numerical methods, and/or machine learning.
The appointment is typically for two years with the possibility of renewal, and a competitive salary is offered. The application deadline is 15 November 2026, and applications should be submitted via AcademicJobsOnline.
