About this position
University College Dublin is advertising a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 (PD1) position in the School of Medicine / Charles Institute of Dermatology for the ERC-funded DESIGN-ECM project led by Associate Professor Seungkuk Ahn.
The project investigates how the species and sex of extracellular matrix and cells affect the design of better 3D tissue models. The successful candidate will work with two PhD students to establish core methods and datasets for the first 36 months of a 60-month ERC project.
Main research activities include: engineering and characterising 3D ECM scaffolds, performing in vitro cell validations, and developing 3D ovarian organoid models. The broader scientific context includes materials science, bioengineering, organoids, mechanobiology, and nanobiotechnology.
This is a temporary 36-month postdoctoral role with a fixed salary of €47,273 per annum. The position starts on 01 May 2027.
Eligibility notes: the role is intended for early-stage researchers, either just after PhD completion or for someone entering a new area for the first time. Applicants who have already completed PD1 at UCD, are about to complete PD1, or whose total postdoctoral experience would exceed 4 years (including this post) should not apply.
