About this position
UCLouvain is advertising a full-time postdoctoral research position in media and communication sciences within the ARC research project CLAIM – Climate Litigation Actions by the Internationally Marginalised.
The project sits at the intersection of law, political science, and communication studies. It examines the role and practices of marginalised actors in international climate-change-related litigation, with a particular focus on the communicational and discursive dimensions of these cases. The selected researcher will help define research strategies with the CLAIM team, collect a corpus of publications and communication materials (especially media and digital content), and apply quantitative and/or qualitative methods to discursive and multimodal materials. Interviews and observation may also be part of the work.
The position is a one-year postdoctoral fellowship, starting on 1 January 2027 (exact start date to be agreed with the selected candidate), and is paid according to UCLouvain pay scales. The call particularly targets researchers in a situation of international mobility who have not resided or carried out their main activity in Belgium for more than 24 months during the three years before the contract start date.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in media and communication sciences, or in language sciences, or an equivalent field. The deadline is 30 October 2026.
Research interests aligned with this call include communication studies, media studies, discursive analysis, multimodal analysis, climate litigation, and broader work on law and politics in climate governance.

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
