About this position
Columbia University in the City of New York is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in the Delmore Lab, based in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology and affiliated with the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute and the Neurobiology and Behavior Program.
The project is NIH-funded and focuses on the molecular neurobiology of seasonal migration, especially a long-term study of a hybrid zone between two subspecies of Swainson's thrushes with different migratory behaviors. Research directions may include expanding bulk RNA-seq work with single-nucleus RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, pharmacological experiments, histology, neuroanatomy, imaging, and computational analysis. The lab is especially interested in candidates excited to work in a non-traditional avian model and to develop independent projects within neuroethology.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. and expertise in neurobiology, molecular biology, animal behavior, or a related area. Preferred experience includes productivity such as first-author publications or grants, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with molecular biology, histology/neuroanatomy, imaging, or computational approaches. Experience with birds is not required.
The position is located at Columbia’s Morningside campus in New York, United States. The posted salary is $72,116. Applications are accepted through Columbia’s Academic Search and Recruiting system and the posting states open until filled.
