About this position
Inria is advertising a postdoctoral research visit at the Inria Centre at Rennes University within the MAGELLAN team. The project is part of IPCEI-CIS / DXP (Data Exchange Platform) and focuses on data management and job scheduling for geo-distributed workflows in open, scalable, massively distributed cloud-edge environments.
The research topic sits at the intersection of distributed systems, middleware, cloud computing, big data management, and data analytics. The successful candidate will study how input data location, intermediate data, network cost and status, site capacity, storage heterogeneity, and multi-tenancy affect workflow performance. The goal is to design scheduling policies and data movement strategies that improve performance, monetary cost, and resource utilization across geo-distributed sites.
Responsibilities include literature review, design of new scheduling and data management methods, implementation and large-scale validation, participation in project meetings with partners, and dissemination through papers and presentations.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in computer science; strong background in distributed systems; ability to perform experimental systems research; experience building systems/tools; and good English communication skills. Experience in big data management, cloud computing, and data analytics is considered an advantage.
Funding and conditions: fixed-term contract for 12 months, renewable up to 24 months, with a monthly gross salary of 2788 euros. Benefits include subsidized meals, transport reimbursement, teleworking after 6 months, flexible working hours, social security coverage, and access to training and social activities.
Location: Rennes, France.
