About this position
Inria is recruiting a postdoctoral research visit for work on reliable triangulation of surfaces arising in robust control of time-delay systems. The project sits at the intersection of mathematics, computer science, computational geometry, and control theory, with a focus on singularities, stratification, triangulation, and certified numerical methods.
The position is part of a joint initiative between the Gamble team at Inria Nancy and the Ouragan team at Inria Paris, in collaboration with the ANR StratMesh project. The successful candidate will classify stable singularities in robust control equations, design efficient algorithms to triangulate implicit solution surfaces, and develop reliable visualization tools and software for surfaces with singular points and self-intersections.
Research topics include quasi-polynomial equations, delay differential systems, H∞ robust control, robustness radius computation, symbolic and numerical methods, and triangulation of perturbed singular curves or surfaces. The role also involves scientific documentation, reports, and publications, plus collaboration with researchers across the two Inria teams.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent; strong background in symbolic/numerical methods or computational geometry; solid linear algebra and differential equations; familiarity with control theory and linear delay differential systems; programming skills for visualization software; fluent English; ability to work independently and in a team.
Location: Villers-lès-Nancy, France, with regular travel between Nancy and Paris possible.
