About this position
Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute is offering a postdoctoral researcher position in the Oncology Department for a project focused on anti-tumoral immune responses. The research is led by Ana Martínez Riaño and investigates how immune responses are developed and organized within tumors, with particular emphasis on immune-stroma interactions in lung tumors.
The project aims to uncover the stromal remodeling that accompanies effective anti-tumor immunity and to identify the factors that regulate these processes. The successful candidate will work with animal models and clinical samples and use advanced methods including flow cytometry, 3D microscopy, and transcriptomic analyses. This is a translational cancer immunology opportunity aimed at understanding mechanisms that may inform novel therapeutic strategies.
The position is based at Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute (HRI Biogipuzkoa) in San Sebastian, Spain. It is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral contract for 36 months with the possibility of extension. The expected starting date is December 2026 to January 2027, and the annual gross salary is €29,216.60–€34,000, depending on experience, merits, commitment, and suitability.
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in Health Sciences, Biology, Biomedicine, or a related field. Required experience includes mouse models, cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, and strong knowledge of immunology and/or cancer biology. A high level of spoken and written English is required, and publications in indexed journals are expected. Desirable experience includes bioinformatics for omics data, patient-derived samples, animal experimentation certification, and conference presentation experience. A disability certificate of 33% or higher is considered an advantage.
The application deadline is 31 August 2026. Candidates must apply through the IIS Biogipuzkoa online portal and also send a CV, cover letter, and two referee contacts by email. The institute states that documents must be submitted electronically and that recruitment follows open, transparent, and merit-based principles.
