About this position
The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS in Warsaw, Poland is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Liang Lab – TNFR2 in Human Hematopoiesis. This is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral position in the Laboratory of Hematopoiesis, with research at the interface of biology, cancer research, and health sciences.
The project is funded through the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (TOP200 NAWA Programme) and focuses on the role of tumor necrosis factor receptor 2 (TNFR2) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The successful candidate will work with human CLL cell lines, an experimental mouse model, and primary human samples from voluntary donors. The project uses advanced approaches including CRISPR-based perturbation, single-cell multi-omics, and flow cytometry to study how TNFR2 affects CLL biology.
The postdoctoral researcher will co-develop the scientific concept and methodology with Dr. Kai Ling Liang and the Liang Lab team, refine experimental strategies, and plan, conduct, and optimize laboratory experiments. Responsibilities include sample collection and processing, molecular/cellular/biochemical analyses, data analysis and interpretation, preparation of figures and reports, presentation at scientific conferences, manuscript writing and revision, and providing scientific support and mentoring to PhD students in the lab.
Eligibility is targeted at R2 recognized researchers with a PhD in life sciences or a closely related field such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Cancer, or Biotechnology. Candidates should have a strong research interest in hematopoiesis, cancer biology, or cancer treatment, with at least one first-author original research publication. Practical experience with molecular and cellular techniques such as gene cloning, PCR, western blotting, transfection, transduction, drug treatment, cell culture, flow cytometry, and cell sorting is required; experience with mice and human primary samples is an advantage. Strong independence, project management, critical thinking, and excellent English communication are also expected.
The contract is for one year initially, renewable for up to three additional years depending on performance. The monthly salary is 11,000–12,450 PLN gross. The planned starting date is October 2026.
Applications must be submitted by 15 September 2026 to [email protected] with the subject note “Liang Post-doc”. Required documents are a CV (max. 4 pages), letter of intent (max. 2 pages), minimum two reference letters (one from the PhD supervisor), and a publication list. The application also requires a personal-data consent statement in the CV.
The position is based at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology in Warsaw, Poland. The laboratory website is www.lianglab.info.
