About this position

The Maurer Lab at the University of Michigan is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher in cell and molecular biology / virology, with a strong focus on AAV gene delivery and AAV biology. The lab is led by Anna Maurer, Assistant Professor of Biophysics, and is based in the Department of Biophysics with affiliations to Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School.

This opportunity is well suited to researchers with training in biology, biomedical engineering, virology, molecular biology, or related areas. The lab is especially interested in candidates with experience in plasmid library cloning and screening, mammalian gene regulation, chromatin structure and function, DNA replication/repair, or cryo-electron tomography. Preferred skills include mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 perturbations, and advanced microscopy.

The position is a full-time postdoctoral appointment with a salary of $63,480–$70,000. It is initially for one year, with a possible second-year extension depending on performance, work availability, and funding. Start dates are flexible from immediately to May 2027, and international applicants are welcome, though H1B visa sponsorship is not available. Applicants are also encouraged to apply for the Michigan Pioneer Fellows Program, which offers supplementary salary and professional development support.

To apply, candidates should email a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV with three references, and at least one representative publication to Dr. Maurer and cc Dr. Xiao. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is recommended.
