About this position

University of Oxford is recruiting two Postdoctoral Researchers in advanced image analysis, machine learning, and brain imaging. The project focuses on longitudinal analysis of UK Biobank brain imaging data, including development of image processing algorithms, software, and AI methods for two-timepoint datasets.

The work is based in the OxCIN (FMRIB) Analysis Group at Oxford, a leading brain image analysis group known for developing FSL and the FMRIB Biobank Pipeline (FBP). The role contributes to the next generation of pipeline development (FBP v2) and may also support future FSL tools used widely in structural, functional, and diffusion MRI analysis.

Research themes include longitudinal imaging, image-derived phenotypes, multi-modal MRI, statistics, Bayesian learning, and modelling variation in populations to study aging and later-life disease. The post is especially suited to candidates with strong computational and software skills and an interest in imaging neuroscience and large-scale biomedical data.

Eligibility highlights: BSc or equivalent in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience, or a related area; PhD in a relevant computational domain; advanced experience in AI/machine learning and image analysis; strong mathematical/computational background; and programming skills in Python or C++.

Funding and contract: full-time, fixed-term appointment until 30 November 2028. The post does not mention a scholarship, tuition waiver, or stipend amount.

Deadline: applications must be received by 12:00 midday on Friday 16 October 2026. Apply via the University of Oxford recruitment portal and review the job description for full responsibilities and selection criteria.
