About this position

Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), near Vienna, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join Maria Ibáñez’s group for research on nanocrystal superstructures and supercrystals.

The project centers on advanced TEM/STEM and electron microscopy approaches that go beyond final-state imaging to study how nanocrystals organize, orient, interact, and transform during assembly. The role is especially suited to researchers interested in combining microscopy with fundamental questions in materials science, physics, and chemistry.

Desired expertise includes high-resolution TEM/STEM, image analysis, quantitative structural characterization of nanoscale materials, and ideally electron tomography, 3D reconstruction, in situ or liquid-cell TEM, low-dose imaging, particle/orientation analysis, or computational processing of microscopy datasets. A background in nanocrystals, colloidal nanoparticles, superlattices, self-assembly, or semiconductor nanomaterials would be a strong advantage.

Applicants should send a CV and motivation letter directly to [email protected]. No deadline was stated in the post.

What's required

Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in high-resolution TEM/STEM, image analysis, and quantitative structural characterization of nanoscale materials. Experience with electron tomography and 3D reconstruction, in situ or liquid-cell TEM, low-dose imaging, particle or orientation analysis, or computational treatment of microscopy datasets would be especially valuable. A background in nanocrystals, colloidal nanoparticles, superlattices, self-assembly, or semiconductor nanomaterials is a strong advantage.

How to apply
