About this position
McGill University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the hEDS*Omics Study within the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Genomic Medicine. The project focuses on hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), with an emphasis on AI-based case finding to identify patients who may be undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or diagnosed late.
The successful candidate will work with clinical notes, physician notes, structured phenotypes, ICD codes, Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) terms, and available omics and health-data resources. The role includes developing and evaluating pipelines for natural language processing, medical text mining, phenotype extraction, and diagnostic reasoning, as well as validating AI-generated candidate cases against chart review, known diagnoses, and expert assessment.
This is a full-time postdoctoral position based at McGill University in Canada. The post states an annual salary of CAD 48,000 plus benefits, and notes that funding is provided by CERC in Genomic Medicine and Mitacs, with the appointment conditional on Mitacs funding approval.
Applicants should hold a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, machine learning, or a related field. Strong experience with clinical/biomedical/genetic/EHR data, LLMs, NLP, Python and/or R, and secure handling of sensitive health data is expected. English or French communication skills are required.
To apply, use the McGill Workday job posting and follow the external-candidate instructions linked in the post. Active McGill employees must apply through their McGill Workday account. No deadline date is shown in the post.
