About this position
University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic) is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher for a 3-year project in ancient biomolecules, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, metagenomics, pathogen genomics, and multi-omics.
The position is based in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, and focuses on the molecular analysis of historical and degraded biological samples. The successful candidate will work on genomic and proteomic characterization of challenging low-input material, development of NGS and bioinformatic workflows, integration of omics datasets, and detection/characterization of organisms and potential pathogens in historical material.
The role offers substantial scientific independence, the chance to shape a new and growing research area, and collaboration with PhD and MSc students as well as external partners. Responsibilities include independent research planning, NGS and omics data analysis, workflow optimization, publication writing, conference presentations, and student mentoring.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, microbiology, biological anthropology, or a related field; strong experience with genomics and NGS analysis; practical bioinformatics skills; molecular biology experience (DNA extraction, PCR); excellent English; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with ancient DNA, degraded samples, metagenomics, proteomics, LC-MS/MS, Linux, R/Python, and multi-omics is an advantage.
Funding: gross monthly salary of 46,000 CZK plus bonuses. The position is full-time, temporary, and on-site in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.
Deadline: 2 October 2026. Apply by e-mail to [email protected]; informal enquiries can be sent to [email protected].
