About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher (M/F) in biophysics, biochemistry and microbiology at the Institut de Pharmacologie et de Biologie Structurale (IPBS), CNRS/Université de Toulouse in Toulouse, France.
This postdoctoral project is part of DetectTbTransmitters, a consortium project focused on tuberculosis and the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis biomarkers in exhaled breath condensate (EBC). The work combines atomic force microscopy (AFM), biophysical analysis, biochemical assays, immunoassays, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and mass spectrometry to study Mtb-like organisms and soluble Mtb molecules such as lipoarabinomannan (LAM).
The recruited researcher will work in the team “Immunomodulation by Mycobacterial Lipids & Glycoconjugates” led by Jérôme Nigou, under the supervision of Dr Albertus Viljoen and Dr Jérôme Nigou. The project aims to identify biomarkers that can help distinguish individuals at risk of transmitting TB and support new diagnostic strategies.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related field; experience with biochemical and/or biophysical techniques; AFM experience or strong interest in AFM preferred; strong English communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international consortium.
Funding: The position is funded by ANRS-MIE and the South African Medical Research Council. Salary/stipend details are not provided in the post.
Deadline: 20 August 2026.
