About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Biotechnology and Metabolomics at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (Golden, Colorado, United States).
This full-time postdoctoral opening is in the NLR Biosciences group and focuses on biosynthetic production of chemical intermediates in photosynthetic systems. The project sits in the algae biotechnology research group and aims to support future photosynthetic biomanufacturing by establishing control over carbon flux and direct in planta production of important chemicals.
The role is strongly oriented toward metabolomics, mass spectrometry, biotechnology, algae biology, and photophysiology. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments with liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry, performing GC/MS and LC/MS analyses, quantifying metabolites and biofuel precursor fractions, working with non-model algae metabolomics, amino acid metabolism, shikimate pathway fluxomics, 13C labeling, and genetic engineering/vector design. The researcher will also monitor cell physiology in controlled photosynthetic cultivation systems, interpret results, write peer-reviewed manuscripts, present at conferences, and contribute to proposal writing and team-based research and development.
Eligibility highlights: recent PhD graduate within the last three years; PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, or Chemistry; strong publication record; hands-on experience with analytical chemistry tools, instrument operation and maintenance, data analysis, bioinformatics, and coding in R or Python; experience with plant, microbial, or algae biotechnology and photosynthetic metabolism.
Funding: annual salary range is $76,600 to $126,400, with benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, pension benefits, 403(b) match, life insurance, PTO, sick leave, and paid holidays. Some positions may also be eligible for relocation reimbursement.
Application: apply through the Workday job portal for requisition R14474. Submit a cover letter and resume. The posting indicates the application window is anticipated to remain open for up to 30 days and may be extended.
