Postdoctoral Researcher in Chemical Synthesis and Methanogenesis (Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology) Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany

A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Excellence Cluster 'Microbes for Climate' (M4C) at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, in collaboration with Jan Schuller. The project focuses on expanding the synthetic toolbox to unlock methanogenesis, specifically through the chemical synthesis of key cofactors such as tetrahydromethanopterin (H4MPT) and the development of affinity-based probes. These tools will enable mechanistic studies of methanogenesis at the molecular level. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry or a related field, with strong expertise in multi-step synthesis, purification, and characterization of complex molecules.

Experience in chemical biology, including biological techniques such as enzymatic assays, pull-down assays, and protein expression, is highly desirable.
