Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Neurodegeneration at the University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB).

The role involves maintaining patient-derived and isogenic-control induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines, differentiating them into midbrain dopaminergic and cholinergic neuronal models, and contributing to organoid experiments. You will plan and perform longitudinal perturbation studies on intracellular calcium signalling, mitochondrial calcium handling, and CHCHD-family expression. Methods include siRNA knockdown, plasmid or viral-vector overexpression, rescue experiments, immunocytochemistry, Western blotting, high-content imaging, live-cell calcium imaging, multielectrode-array recordings, single-cell RNA sequencing sample preparation, proteomics, metabolomics, electron microscopy, and Seahorse extracellular flux experiments.

The position is ideal for candidates with strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, especially human iPSC culture and neuronal differentiation, plus experience in molecular perturbation, fluorescence microscopy, image analysis, mitochondrial biology, and calcium signalling. Familiarity with single-cell sequencing, multiomics, organoids, electrophysiology, or EM workflows is an advantage. The role also includes data analysis using rigorous statistical and reproducible workflows, coordination across work packages and partner institutions, presentation at consortium meetings and international conferences, manuscript preparation, and support for students and technical staff.
