About this position
ETH Zurich’s Chair of Forest Resources Management (FORM) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Forest Economics / Forest Management. The position sits at the interface of forest economics, forest management, environmental decision-making, and applied research, with links to remote sensing, decision support, risk analysis, and stakeholder-oriented approaches.
The FORM group works on how forests can be understood, monitored, modelled, and managed now and in the future. The postdoctoral researcher will develop an independent research profile while contributing to teaching, student supervision, proposal development, and collaboration with scientific and professional networks. Research themes mentioned in the post include forest resilience, invisible forest values, climate risk, biodiversity loss, land-use pressure, renewable materials, and policy mechanisms for sustainable forest economies.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in forestry, forest sciences, forest economics, environmental sciences with a major in forest and landscape management, or a related field. Strong interest in forest management and economics is required, together with experience in data analysis, scientific writing, and communicating research to different audiences. Teaching or supervision experience is preferred. Very good English is required; German is an asset.
