About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher opportunity in global health economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, within the Horizon Europe-funded BEACON-HD project.

The project studies two implementation strategies for chronic disease care in rural Rwanda and Uganda: telemedicine with self-monitoring and community-based medication delivery. The postdoc will lead the economic evaluation and equity analysis work package, working with an international consortium of health economists, clinicians, and implementation scientists.

Research tasks include field-based data collection and analysis, cost and resource-use analysis, building and extending a Markov model for cost-effectiveness, conducting a budget-impact analysis, and running an equity-modelling study on socioeconomic subgroups and universal health coverage. The role also includes co-authoring publications and presenting at conferences.

Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD or near-completion in health economics, development economics, economics, econometrics, or a closely related field; strong quantitative skills; experience with Stata or R; excellent English; and willingness to travel for fieldwork in East Africa.

The position is based at the Department of Applied Economics, Erasmus School of Economics, for 36 months with 90% research and 10% teaching. Salary is approximately €3,706–€6,682 gross per month depending on experience. Deadline: 9 October 2026.
