About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in IBD translational study at the University of Barcelona, within the Mucosal Immunology Lab led by Dr. Giuliana Magri.

This is a fully funded 2.5-year postdoctoral position supporting cutting-edge translational research on a potential breakthrough therapy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The project is a collaborative public-private effort involving the University of Barcelona (UB), the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and OrikineBio, with a strong focus on advancing engineered cytokine-based therapies.

The successful candidate will design and carry out in vitro functional assays using primary cells from IBD patients and apply systems immunology approaches to identify predictive biomarkers of treatment response. The role also includes involvement in other ongoing IBD projects in the lab and collaboration across academia and industry.

Profile sought: a candidate with a Ph.D. in Immunology or a closely related field, strong experience in functional immunological assays with primary immune cells, protein analytics, and multiparametric flow cytometry, plus excellent English communication skills. Experience in human immunology, IBD research, high-impact publications, single-cell RNA sequencing, and project management is highly desirable.

Funding and working conditions: fully funded, competitive salary, full-time contract (37.5 hours/week), and access to state-of-the-art facilities and partner resources. The posted remuneration is 22,186.67€ (2,600€ x 8.5 months).
