About this position

University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Innate Immunology, with a strong focus on macrophage biology, adipose tissue biology, and metabolism. The project investigates the role of macrophages in adipose tissue activation and immune regulation using in vivo murine models and in vitro functional assays.

The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary research environment and contribute to experiments involving murine tissue processing, immune cell isolation and characterization, quantitative PCR, multiparameter flow cytometry, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. The role also includes supervising and training students and interns.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, metabolism, or a related life sciences field; strong background in macrophage biology or innate immunology; experience with murine tissues, immune cell isolation, BSL-2 work, FlowJo, sterile cell culture, and primary immune cell assays; excellent English and communication skills. Experience in adipose tissue biology or metabolic disease is desirable.

Funding and contract: temporary part-time employment at 80% (30.80 hours/week) from 1 Dec 2026 to 31 Jul 2029, with the possibility to increase to 100%. Compensation follows TVöD/VKA, with a stated full-time salary range of €63,600–€91,100 depending on qualifications and experience.
