About this position

The University of Copenhagen’s Department of Science Education is recruiting a 2-year postdoctoral researcher for the SPINE project (Strengthening Pathways and Infrastructures for Navigating Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Existing Academic Structures).

This postdoc will work on interdisciplinary collaboration, higher education research, qualitative research, participatory action research, co-design, and workshop facilitation. The project combines qualitative research, international fieldwork, and participatory action research to develop practical “plug-and-play” tools such as methods, templates, games, and workshop formats that can be used by researchers, educators, and research organisations.

The role includes designing and facilitating intervention workshops, testing and refining tools at SPINE test sites, analysing empirical material, collaborating with project partners and stakeholders, disseminating findings, and contributing to teaching at the Department of Science Education. The position is based in Denmark, with some international travel required.

Applicants should be independent, collaborative, and strong in written and oral communication. Experience with interdisciplinary higher education research, participatory action research or co-design, stakeholder engagement, and translating research into practical or policy-relevant outputs is especially relevant. Danish is an advantage but not required.

The position is funded by the Lundbeck Foundation through SPINE and starts on 1 March 2027. The application deadline is 28 October 2026, 23:59 CET. Apply through the University of Copenhagen online recruitment system with a 2-page motivation/qualification statement, CV, one publication, publication list, diplomas/transcripts, and two references.
