About this position
University of Limerick is advertising a Post Doctoral Researcher (Level 1 or Level 2) in Inverse Problems within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and MACSI – Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry. This is a Research Ireland-funded position in the project Inverse Problems for Sustainable Living in Ireland (IP-SUSTAIN).
The research focuses on mathematics, statistics, inverse problems, computational mathematics, and applications to geophysical imaging. The project aims to develop new uniqueness, stability, and reconstruction results for the anisotropic Calderón inverse conductivity problem / Electrical Impedance Tomography, with applications to identifying geothermal reservoirs and critical mineral deposits. It also explores joint inversion of hydraulic and electrical measurements, combining groundwater flow models with Electrical Impedance Tomography to improve characterization of aquifers.
The researcher will be based at the University of Limerick and will work with an international collaboration network in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The post is a temporary specific-purpose contract and includes a salary scale of €47,273–€53,915 for Level 1 or €55,399–€60,250 for Level 2 (pro rata).
