About this position

Postdoctoral opening at the University of Luxembourg in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), within the SigCom research group. The project focuses on joint communications and radar sensing for 6G non-terrestrial networks (NTN), with emphasis on spaceborne systems, LEO constellations, and 3GPP-compliant 5G/6G NR NTN waveforms.

The research topic combines wireless communications, radar signal processing, signal processing, machine learning, and satellite communications. Responsibilities include developing algorithms for joint channel/delay/Doppler/carrier phase estimation, remote ranging and tracking, monostatic and bistatic SAR imaging, self-interference cancellation, synchronization, and real-time validation on SDR/FPGA/RFSoC-based 6GSPACE Lab testbeds.

The role also involves measurement campaigns, lab experiments, publication of results in journals and conferences, contributions to ESA deliverables and technical reports, and support for new research proposals. Co-supervision of PhD/MSc students is part of the position.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in telecommunication engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, computer science/engineering, or a closely related field; strong background in wireless communications and/or radar; hands-on SDR/testbed experience; strong programming skills in at least two of MATLAB, Python, C/C++; and fluent English. Experience with GNU Radio, OpenAirInterface, srsRAN, satellite channel modelling, STK, ns-3, and collaborative research projects is an advantage.

Funding: fixed-term full-time postdoctoral contract for 24 months with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176.

How to apply: submit the application online via the university portal. Prepare a CV, degree details, thesis title and supervisor name, publication list, cover letter, and transcript of university-level courses. If your PhD is still pending, include a tentative graduation date.

Location: Kirchberg Campus, Luxembourg.
