About this position
Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher (Post-Doc 2) for the ERC Starting Grant project PetrIUS: Petrification of ius commune through printed paratexts (Grant Agreement No. 101162091).
The position is based at the Centre for Ius Commune, Faculty of Law and Administration, and is focused on legal history, history of law, ius commune, and the study of printed paratexts in late medieval and early modern legal books. The successful candidate will research printed legal paratexts, collect and analyze literature, contribute to scholarly articles, present findings at conferences and seminars, organize project seminars, and work closely with the research team.
The postdoc will contribute to WP2 and WP3 of the project, including investigation of the origins and variants of paratexts, manuscript and print comparison, analysis of corpora iuris editions, database contributions, and study of the role of paratexts in early modern book production and legal communication.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in the humanities or social sciences (preferably legal history), research experience with historical legal sources, academic publications, excellent English, good command of at least one of Italian/German/French/Spanish, and passive Latin knowledge documented through publications. Book history, palaeography, digital humanities, project management, and teamwork skills are advantageous.
Funding: full-time temporary contract for 36 months; salary 7,600 PLN gross/month plus supplementary project remuneration depending on experience, with additional employee benefits.
