About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Machine Learning Security & Testing at the University of Luxembourg, within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the SERVAL research group.
This postdoctoral opportunity sits at the intersection of Agentic AI, AI security, trustworthy AI, software engineering, and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will contribute to research and development on methods, tools, and platforms that support the safe deployment of AI systems in real-world environments. The project includes work on AI agents and computer-use agents, security and robustness, evaluation and benchmarking, runtime monitoring and governance, formal specification and verification, AI systems for enterprise and cybersecurity use cases, and compliance/risk assessment for trustworthy AI engineering.
The position is embedded in a broader initiative to improve the reliable deployment of machine learning systems by providing practical evaluation and testing tools for industry. The researcher will work on both fundamental research and practical software demonstrators, in collaboration with industrial and public-sector partners. Publication is expected in leading venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ICSE, FSE, ASE, IEEE Security & Privacy, USENIX Security, and CCS.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Computer Science (or a closely related area) with a thesis related to machine learning, software engineering, software security, or a related field; strong programming and analytical ability; an excellent publication record; and fluent English communication skills. Experience in ICT industry is an advantage, and knowledge of machine learning, large language models, and agentic frameworks is a strong asset.
Funding and contract: fixed-term contract for 18 months, full-time (40 hours/week). The annual gross salary is EUR 85,176 for a full-time postdoctoral researcher.
