About this position

Université de Caen Normandie is offering a postdoctoral researcher position in Management or Economics within the CYRCE project – Caen University Cybersecurity Campus, funded under the France 2030 Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI).

The project, titled Strengthening the Effectiveness of the French Support Ecosystem for Cybersecurity Start-ups: A Configurational Analysis Based on Isenberg’s Framework (2011), examines why the French support ecosystem for cybersecurity start-ups may be underperforming and how alignment across ecosystem domains can be improved. The research is grounded in entrepreneurship ecosystem theory and the misalignment perspective, focusing on the interaction between public policy, finance, culture, support systems, human capital and markets.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct literature reviews, collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data, and contribute to reports, publications, conference papers, and dissemination activities. The study will use a qualitative design combining interviews, observation and documentary analysis, with a configurational and systemic approach to understanding ecosystem misfits and governance mechanisms that could improve coordination and long-term sustainability.

The successful candidate will join the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (CREM – CNRS Joint Research Unit 6211) at the University of Caen Normandy, specifically the Organisations, Networks and Digital Technologies division. CREM is a major research unit in economics and management with expertise spanning entrepreneurship and innovation, institutions and governance, digital transformation, and related contemporary challenges.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Management or Economics (CNU Section 06 or 05) is required; experience in entrepreneurship and/or innovation research is expected; proficiency in NVivo and both qualitative and quantitative methods is requested; social network theory-based methods are particularly valued. Strong teamwork and communication skills are important, and CNU qualification would be an advantage.

Contract and working conditions: 11-month temporary full-time position, from 1 November 2026 to 30 September 2027. The role is based mainly at the University of Caen Normandy in Caen, with one day of remote work per week and occasional travel for fieldwork and project meetings.

Application deadline: 7 September 2026, 23:59 UTC. Applicants must submit a cover letter, ID, academic CV and publication list, a 2–4 page research proposal, selected publications, and PhD-related documents by email.
